This list is surprisingly lacking the Nintendo Wii figures, but its still a fun list anyway. My grandparents had an Intellivision when I was growing up. Oh how I remember Dungeons and Dragons on there.

Microsoft Follows Nintendo’s Lead With Product Life Cycle

A couple of days ago I wrote a post about the Nintendo DS product life cycle being suspended due to the Nintendo DS still being cutting edge. Well, it looks like Microsoft will follow suit with their XBox 360, extending their product life cycle beyond 5 years.

What does this mean for Sony? If they want to compete and sell game consoles, consumers will want to know that purchasing a Playstation will still be good 5 years from now, especially with the price tag they are asking.

Nintendo Ends Their Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) Support

Did you know that after 24 years, Nintendo was still supporting the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)? As of today, it looks like Nintendo has finally pulled their plug on the support for their very first video game console, the NES. As an owner of the original NES, this is a sad day, but you have to admit that it is truly amazing that they supported this system for all this time.

Casual Games Aren’t Just For Girls Anymore

It has always been the popular belief that only girls play casual games. Wii Play, Wii Sports, etc. Apparently this is not true, according to a recent study by the Casual Gamers Association.

According to their findings, women are more likely to purchase casual games. However, once brought home, boys are just as likely to play the game as the girl who purchased it.

The year-long survey found that while women make up 75 percent of those who purchase casual games, those who play casual games are an even 50-50 split by gender.

“It was really shocking for everybody,” said the association’s Jessica Tams when commenting on the findings. “Everyone always thought that casual games were something that only appeal to women.
